Here's the Story

Marcus at 40 weeks

Vashti at 40 Weeks
At the Doctor's (1:00 pm):
I had a Doctor appointment on Wednesday and Marcus surprised me by getting off work early to go with me. I am glad he did because I would have been pretty stressed out if I was by myself. My blood pressure was high when they first checked (146/118) and we had even got there early and I had been sitting down in the lobby for 1/2 an hour first. They checked it again at the end of the appointment and it had gone up even more. No dialation whatsoever.
Dr K "So how do you feel about having your baby today?"
Me "Well if that is what you think - I'm not crazy about being induced."
Dr K "Maybe I should have phrased that differently, you don't have a choice your BP is too high"
Me "Oh! Well today it is then"
Run home, get the bags and last minute things tied up. Olivia was with Kaitlyn and ended up staying there the first night (THANK YOU SO MUCH!). I ate dinner at Kaitlyn's before heading in, just in case they weren't going to feed me at the hospital.
At the hospital (5:00 pm):
I am not crazy about being induced. I felt like I had a really successful labor/delivery (no pain meds) with Olivia and I like being able to have most of the contractions at my own home. They give me cervadil at 6:00 and am told it should take 12 hours for it to make me all "loosey goosey" (not a clinical term) and at 6:00 am if nothing was moving yet they would break my water and start pitocin.
Getting the cervadil was NOT FUN. I don't think it helped that the nurse administering it was a prison torturer in a past life.
1:00 am
Contractions start and they are pretty intense. We play some phase 10, but only get through the first three phases before I can't concentrate anymore.
3:00 am
I am dying.
The contractions are right on top of each other and are making me want to crawl out of my skin. They take out the cervadil and check me. I went from nothing to 6 cm in less than two hours.
I am tired and exhausted.
"GIVE ME THE EPIDURAL... NOW"
I knew with how tired I was already that I wouldn't have enough energy left to push. I am still thinking at this point that it is hours before I even get to the pushing stage. They get started with the IV of saline and give me some phentanol to help with the pain. Dr K gets there and calls for the anesthesiologist and I have a couple of more contractions. Then I feel I start feeling pressure like I need to push. I inform everyone of this and then I get on the bed and my water breaks.
Dr K "Oh wow, you are at a 10 and this baby is coming now."
Mad dash ensues as no one is prepared for this.
"Wait a second, wait a second!" as Dr and nurses rush around.
WAIT?!? Are they kidding me?
I literally rip the glasses off my face and chuck them to side bed and 5 min later Bianca enters the world! Poor anesthesiologist got out of bed for nothing!
We almost named Olivia "Bianca" and so it was our first choice for the new addition. It totally fits her and her little personality. Irene is after my Mom, Irene being her middle name.
Olivia spent the first day/night playing at Kaitlyn's house (she totally rocks and is super mom with already having her OWN two kids to worry about). Then she has been staying with my parents and having the time of her life. She just came back tonight and it was so nice to have the down time and also know that while she was over there she was thriving. It is nice to have all of us under one roof again. I am loving how more laid back I feel and it is much easier the second time around!

Bianca Irene

6 lbs 13 oz 19 1/4 inches long
She is here and we love her! Yes that is a newborn onesie that is hanging off of her. The newborn diapers are constantly sliding off her tiny bottom! And yes it is 10:30 pm and I am blogging instead of sleeping, but I couldn't resist!

We weren't fully set up for such a tiny addition (Olivia was 9 lbs 5 oz) so we had to race out and purchase newborn diapers and such and all her clothes hang off of her. She hardly fusses (yet) and sleeps all day and is up all night. She is so tiny I feel like I might break her. We are doing well and enjoying some time minus the toddler as she is partying it up at my parents house. My recovery is 1000 % better than Olivia already and I feel so grateful. My next post will have more details of how she arrived (consider yourself warned).

How Olivia has been preparing for sister...

Consulting with her BFF about how baby sisters change your life...
Testing out all the infant stuff to make sure it is safe for sister...

Playing with Dadda's tools (life can't be all work right?)...

Eating smores! What can I say, the girl is like her Momma and LOVES to eat!
Due date fastly approaching (Wed). We are all really excited to meet the new addition to our family. Struggling with wanting to get out and be busy and hibernating in my house til she arrives
~You STILL haven't had that baby yet?
~What.... No baby yet?
~When are you going to EVER have that baby?!?!
(Like I'm not doing everything within my power to will her out already!)
The weather being so nice really does help with the hormonalness. So I think I will stick with the plan of keeping myself busy, the faster the time flies by the less I will notice all the comments! I am really enjoying the down time with Olivia right now and it has been fun to think up what adventure we are going to do each day.

39 Weeks

What I am thankful for:

~The Fair-It's really making this week fly by which is really nice
I HEART THE FAIR!
~Grandparents that babysit Olivia so that I can work at the fair!
~Sleeping in (as much as Olivia lets me which is usually 8 or 8:30)
~Helpful husband who has been doing a deep cleaning job every night while I party at the fair (by party I mean work, but work is so fun it feels like a party!)
~No signs of stretchmarks yet! (I know there are some people who may want to kill me for this statement, but I really lucked out with apparently VERY elastic skin as this whole no stretch mark thing really surprises me still!)
~Corn dogs-seriously! Kings corn dogs @ the fair are magical and make my life feel complete as I hoover them ;)

I thought I would be in agony this whole summer with being preggers and all, but besides that ONE week (of insane heat) it has been pretty awesome! Tons of things to keep me busy and make the time fly by! I am definitely ready to be DONE being pregnant, but I was a week late with Olivia so I'm really not going to start getting my hopes up until next week. But anytime baby girl wants to make her grand appearance is fine with me! Well maybe anytime after tonight I can't miss Foreigner at the Fair!

So today my friends threw me a baby shower and it was SO MUCH FUN! I kept insisting that I didn't need/want one and it is hard for me to let other people do nice things for me. Kaitlyn and Alicia insisted and I am really glad that they did. It was just so much fun to have girl time and to eat an obscene amount of all my favorite food! It was such a blast and all the kids played around together. I kinda wish I would have brought Olivia (Marcus took her for the day) but it was nice not having to keep tabs on my OWN kid ;) I just feel really blessed to have such wonderful friends that love and support me so much! Alicia sent me this smile box of pictures she had taken at the shower and I am totally stealing it from her to post here (THANKS ALICIA).

Thank you to all who came and made me feel like a Queen for a day, this Mommy appreciates it SO MUCH!

Happy Anniversary!

Yeah! Marcus and I have been married for five years today, together for six! We were just talking the other night that if someone would have told us when we got married that in five years we will have had...

~been sealed in the temple
~lived in a camper for one year in my parents back yard
~purchased land and built our own house
~had a baby
~Marcus switching jobs/careers three times
~had 99.9% of our second kid (she technically isn't here yet, but SOON!)
I would have told you that you were crazy!

What did we do on this magical anniversary day? We...

~Went to the Rusty Wagon for breakfast
(Honestly best place for breakfast EVER, had me some yummy farmers omelet and Marcus got the stuffed french toast. Olivia had eggs, toast and sausage links--her FAVE--)
~Got home and Marcus detailed the car
~Took naps! Nice and long ones
~Braved Walmart
~Had a romantic dinner at Chez les Mcdonald's (an angus burger can count as fine dining...right??)
~Finished with nice big stock up time at costco!

In all honestly it was just the best day ever! I love getting the pantry stocked and tonight we are going to have a romantic evening of organizing baby clothes and such! It was such a perfect laid back day!

SIDE NOTE: You know you are a parent of younger children when...
Costco switches up their Kirkland brand wipes with fancy all natural ones that cost 3.50 more a box and you about have a heart attack looking for the regular ones! They are almost at 20 a box now! I actually meant to ask at the check out if this is the new norm, but totally spaced it. Please come back to me regular old Kirkland wipes :(

Last Month

So I just realized that it is in fact AUGUST now. August being the month that my baby is due. All of a sudden I am feeling the urgency to get my house spick and span and all the new baby stuff cleaned and/or washed. It's not like I am dying for her to come out yet (I haven't quite reached that level of uncomfortability) but I hate the feeling like I am NOT 100% prepared. Plus I can still remember quite vividly what it was like trying to get Olivia out, and what it was like after, so I am really okay if she even is over due (I know, I know, I will be cursing myself at the end of month that I said that statement when it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy!).

I have a feeling that I will be a cleaning monster this week and then I can just sit back downing my pints of glorious Haagen Daaz ice cream while I wait the arrival of Olivia's baby sister. Actually a chocolate milkshake sounds really good for lunch right now ;) Ice cream DOES have calcium in it right? It can't be THAT unhealthy for you...
